The Winnipeg Jets conclude a five-game regular season series with the Nashville Predators this afternoon at Bridgestone Arena. The Jets are 1-2-1 against Nashville this year despite outscoring the Predators 11-10. Blake Wheeler and Olli Jokinen lead Winnipeg with four points, while Craig Smith has four for the Predators. Ondrej Pavelec and Carter Hutton have tended goal in parts of all four games. Due to the 2pm ct face off, neither team had a pregame skate this morning resulting in both line ups unknown until they take to the ice for warm-up. The (29-26-6) Jets are two points behind the Dallas Stars for a Western Conference Wild Card playoff spot. Dallas has two games in hand on Winnipeg. The (26-24-10) Predators trail Winnipeg by two points. Nashville has a 5-2-3 record in their last 10 games. Five teams continue a close race for a Wild Card playoff spot. Dallas and Vancouver each have 66 points, Phoenix has 65, Winnipeg 64 and Nashville 62. Dustin Byfuglien and Blake Wheeler each have one goal and two assists in their last three games. Tuesdays 3-2 shootout win at the MTS Centre over Phoenix improved the Jets shootout record to 6-5. They had lost their last three in a row. The Predators are 1-7 in shootouts this season. Winnipeg has the top-ranked penalty kill on the road in the NHL at 87.5%. That will be tested today as the Predators scored three power play goals in their 3-2 Tuesday vs Tampa Bay. The Preds power play is ranked third in the NHL on home ice at 24.7%. Nashville has a 15-0-3 record when leading after 40 minutes. Matt Halischuk and Grant Clitsome remain on injured reserve for Winnipeg while Nick Spaling is the lone Nashville player on IR.
